Violin Questions, Answered

  • I play acoustic or electric violin for:

    -weddings (ceremony, cocktail hour)

-private or corporate events (cocktail hours, featured performances)

-DJ collaborations (dance parties, cocktail hours, festivals)

I can play totally solo, with a loop pedal, or with backing tracks.

I can also collaborate with other musicians to create quartets, trios, duos etc.

I also love teaching! I’ve been working with kids my whole life and can teach violin or general music. And randomly I can also tutor ACT, SAT, and any grade school subject.

  • It depends! The violin is an extremely difficult instrument to master: it honestly takes tens of thousands of hours to be able to play well and comfortably for others. Because of this, each violinist puts a different number on what their time (and their day) is worth so you will probably see variation in your search.

For weddings specifically, violinists typically have to learn new songs (each song can take 1-2 hours to learn well), spend extra time doing their hair and makeup, and often acquire a custom outfit to fit the color scheme or venue vibe.

I say all that to explain why the number that you will hear from each of us might be different.

  • Yes! One of my favorite parts of the job is learning new songs. Please just give me 4 weeks notice.

  • Yes! My boyfriend is actually a DJ (and we met partying lol) so let me know if you’d like to hire him with me. I also have many DJ friends I can connect you with but also can collab with any DJ.

I also have been studying improvisation and creative playing to improve this specific skill. It takes time to learn how to accompany a full DJ track so you want someone with experience.

  • Yes I do, but there will be an added fee based on travel time. Thank you for understanding!

  • It depends on what vibe you are going for! If you have a more intimate ceremony and want a more classical, traditional feel, I’d go with acoustic. If you want a more modern touch, then go with electric!

Whenever I play both instruments for clients and ask which “sounds better” clients always say they “cannot tell the difference” so it really is about the vibe!
